In New Jersey There Is NO Crime Spree Exceptions For Expungments

The New Jersey Supreme Court has just ruled that there is no crime spree exception for expungements even for a defendant who plead guilty on one proceeding to multiple crimes that are committed within a short period of time.

In the matter of the expungement petition of JS and In the matter of the Expungement of the criminal records of G.P.B. In New Jersey, you cannot obtain an expungement if you have been convicted of one or more indictable offenses. In these cases, J.S. committed two crimes five days apart, and G.P.B. committed four crimes in two days. It is now clear that one cannot obtain an expungement for 2 or more offenses no matter how close in time they were committed.
